One of these beakers was bought by Queen Mary and is still in The Queen's collection at Buckingham Palace.

This beautiful and highly decorative beaker was made by Copeland-Spode in 1937. It is one of the rarest commemoratives made for the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth,The Queen Mother.

The stunning central portrait is after the famous painting of the Royal Family by Marcus Adams. The portrait which is set into the heraldic garter belt depicts King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, (the Queen Mother) and the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose.

The portrait is flanked by sprays of the British national flowers and above is the Palace of Westminster and Windsor Castle. On the back is a shield decoration with the Coronation details.

This rare mug which has been extensively hand decorated is 4 1/4"- 110mm tall, it is in excellent condition without and chips, cracks or crazing. The Copeland-Spode backstamp and the Royal Cipher are imprinted on the base as well as the Marcus Adams acknowledgement. Definitely a piece for the connoisseur collector.
