Rare to find such an early royal commemorative and even more so in such fine condition and this example is the rarer small version.

This exceptional In Memoriam jug was made in 1830 to commemorate the death of King George IV.

In the front the jug carries a superb portrait of King George IV set into a spray of the British floral emblems. On the back is the dedication,

To the memory of his late Majesty King George the IV

Born August 12th 1762

Ascended the throne Jan 29th 1820

Publicly Proclaimed Jan 31st

Departed this life June 20th 1830

Aged 68 years.
The top border of the jug and the inner rim are also decorated in sprays of the British floral emblems,The front of the jug is adorned with the Royal Coat-of-Arms.

A good example of this well shaped jug which is 4" - 110mm tall. It is in beautiful undamaged condition apart from the tiniest chip on the underside of the base rim . Hard to believe that this piece is nearly 175 years old. On the base is the backstamp of the Staffordshire pottery of Goodwin, Bridgewood & Harris.
