Royal Doulton made two versions of this tapered beakers, one in pottery, and this the de-luxe version in bone china. The beaker was made to commemorate the 1937 Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother).The beaker was made as a special edition for the Corporation of Scarborough.

The profile portrait shows a very young looking King and Queen.They are flanked by the British flags and The Royal Standard.Below on a velvet cushion is The St Edward's Crown with items of the Coronation regalia, the Orb, Ampula and Sceptre.The decoration is encircled by the national flowers.The inner rim is decorated with the Doulton olive leaf decoration.

The back of the beaker has the Coat of Arms of the Borough of Scarborough and "Presented by The Borough Corporation of Scarborough".

The 3 3/4" - 95mm tall beaker is in superb condition without any chips, cracks or crazing.The Royal Doulton backstamp is imprinted on the base.
